Use
The Yersinia enterocolitica Antibody, IgM by Immunoblot test is used as an adjunct tool in the diagnosis of Yersinia enterocolitica infection. This infection can lead to post-infectious autoimmune disorders such as reactive arthritis, erythema nodosum, Graves Disease, and Hashimoto thyroiditis, which are associated with IgA and IgG antibodies to Y. enterocolitica Yop proteins.

Limitations
This test may cross-react with Borrelia burgdorferi, which can cause arthritis indistinguishable from arthritis due to Y. enterocolitica. The test was developed by ARUP Laboratories and is intended for clinical purposes. However, it has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
