Zolpidem Urine with Reflex to Quantitation
Also known as: ZOLP RFX U
Use
The Zolpidem Urine with Reflex to Quantitation test is used for general screening in contexts of drug compliance and/or abuse. It is a preferred method for confirming or ruling out zolpidem exposure. If a presumptive positive result is detected, confirmation and quantitation are performed through mass spectrometry, specifically by LC-MS/MS. This is beneficial for accurately identifying zolpidem in urine samples, especially in cases involving potential substance misuse.
Special Instructions
Reflex testing occurs if the initial immunoassay screen is positive, leading to a follow-up confirmation using Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Additional charges will apply for the reflex test. Ensure that urine samples are collected without additives or preservatives to avoid rejection.
Limitations
The immunoassay used in this test has a positive cutoff at 20 ng/mL. Presumptive negative results might indicate factors such as non-compliance, inappropriate timing of specimen collection, or issues related to drug absorption or urine dilution. The test's sensitivity can vary across different drug classes, and results should only be used for medical purposes, not for forensic use.
