Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML) Profile, FISH
Use
Diagnostic and prognostic test for acute myeloid leukemia; detection rate is 80% of the known chromosome causes of AML.
Special Instructions
Indicate pertinent clinical diagnosis and previous cytogenetic studies on the test request form. Proper specimen handling and transportation are critical, and sterile techniques should be utilized where possible.
Limitations
The test is restricted to detecting molecular mutations or chromosomal alterations targeted by the included probes. Alterations not targeted will not be detected, and the test results should be considered as part of a comprehensive cytogenetic analysis and hematologic evaluation.
