ATN Profile
Also known as: Alzheimer's, Amyloid-Tau-Neurodegeneration (ATN) Profile, Beta Amyloid 42/40 Ratio, Plasma, Neurofilament Light Chain(NfL), Plasma, Phosphorylated Tau 181 (pTau-181), Plasma
Use
This profile is used to assist in determining the presence or absence of key biological changes that are consistent with Alzheimer's disease pathology.
Special Instructions
Plasma samples should be separated and stored appropriately as per stability guidelines. Specimens must be kept on dry ice during transport to ensure integrity. The test employs advanced immunoassay technology to achieve precise measurement of biomarkers associated with Alzheimer's disease pathology.
Limitations
The tests included in the ATN Profile were developed and performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp; however, they have not been cleared or approved by the FDA. As these biomarkers are indicators of Alzheimer's pathology, they may not be specific and could potentially reflect similar changes in other neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, the neurofilament light chain (NfL) as a marker of neurodegeneration is not disease-specific but indicative of axonal damage in general, limiting its specific application to Alzheimer's disease alone.

Minimum Volume
2.5 mL
Container
Lavender-top (EDTA) tube, screw-capped frozen transport tube
Collection Instructions
Draw two full lavender-top (EDTA) tubes of blood. Separate plasma from blood via centrifugation (>1500g for 10 minutes) within 40 minutes after blood collection. Transfer plasma to two Labcorp polypropylene transport tubes and seal.
Storage Instructions
Plasma samples may be stored for up to 24 hours at < -10°C (standard freezer) prior to placing in dry ice, or samples may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 10 hours but then must be placed on dry ice for transport. All samples must be maintained on dry ice or similar temperatures.
Causes for Rejection
Sample at room temperature; thawed sample; only one tube of plasma
