Basil
Use
The Basil test is designed to measure specific IgE levels in the serum against basil allergen using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP® methodology. It aids in the diagnosis of allergic conditions and is particularly useful in identifying allergic reactions to basil. The test can help clinicians understand the severity of an allergy and guide management and treatment plans for patients with suspected basil allergy.
Special Instructions
Ensure that the serum sample is collected in the appropriate tube (red-top or gel-barrier) and handled according to stability requirements to maintain sample integrity. Allow time for potential additional confirmatory tests if initial results are equivocal.
Limitations
The test is limited to measuring specific IgE to basil and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings and patient history. The test may not detect all potential allergens or predict the severity of allergic reactions. Cross-reactivity with other allergens could potentially affect results. Variations in stability may occur if the recommended storage conditions are not strictly followed.
