Use
Evaluation for liver and biliary disease
Special Instructions
This test is intended for newborn infants only. Ensure sample protection from light during transport and storage to maintain specimen integrity.
Limitations
The test is specifically designed and validated for use in newborn infants. Bilirubin levels may be affected by a variety of factors, such as prematurity, feeding practices, and genetic differences in bilirubin metabolism. Hemolysis or lipemia in specimens might lead to inaccurate results. The test should be used as part of a comprehensive clinical evaluation and interpretation should consider the entire clinical context, including concurrent medical conditions and potential laboratory artefacts.
