Bleeding Diathesis With Normal aPTT/PT Profile (Esoterix)
Use
To assist in the determination of a cause of bleeding in a patient with normal aPTT and PT.
Special Instructions
Plasma must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of venipuncture and centrifuged a second time before being placed in plastic transport tubes. Freeze the specimen within two hours and maintain in a frozen state until testing is performed.
Limitations
This test may be considered investigational by Medicare and other carriers, and might not be covered under insurances as a benefit for patients. The results depend on proper specimen collection and handling, and factors not included in the test could also contribute to bleeding disorders.
