Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) Pediatric Profile Seven−Treatment (Endocrine Sciences)
Use
The Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) Pediatric Profile Seven−Treatment aims to assess adrenal function in pediatric patients by measuring key steroid hormones involved in the biosynthesis pathway. It is useful for monitoring treatment efficacy in children diagnosed with CAH, a genetic disorder affecting cortisol synthesis.
Special Instructions
Ensure serum is separated from cells within 45 minutes of venipuncture and send in a plastic transport tube. Use a red-top tube, and do not use a gel-barrier tube. Submit separate frozen specimens if multiple tests are requested on frozen samples.
Limitations
Results may be influenced by improper specimen handling or delayed separation of serum from cells. Certain medications or therapies might affect hormone levels, leading to potential misinterpretation. The test is specific for pediatric cases and may not be suitable for adults.
