CAH Panel 9 (3Beta-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Deficiency)
Use
Measurement of multiple adrenal steroids—17‑Hydroxyprogesterone, Androstenedione, 17‑Hydroxypregnenolone, DHEA (unconjugated), and total cortisol—is used to evaluate adrenal function and distinguish among disorders like congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 3‑beta‑hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency, as well as cortisol-related diseases such as Addison’s and Cushing’s syndromes.
Special Instructions
An early morning serum sample is preferred. Time of day collected, age, and sex must be specified on the requisition. The test was developed and validated by Quest Diagnostics under CLIA and is performed at Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, CA. It is not cleared or approved by the FDA.
