Ehrlichia Antibody Panel, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Ehrlichia chaffeensis, IgG and IgM, IFA
Also known as: Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Ehrlichia chaffeensis, HGE, HME, Tickborne
Use
Detection and semi-quantitation of IgG and IgM antibodies and Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Ehrlichia chaffeensis as an aid in the diagnosis of ehrlichiosis
Special Instructions
If a non gel-barrier tube is used for specimen collection, ensure to transfer the separated serum into a labeled plastic transport tube. Avoid freezing the gel-barrier tube; instead, pour off the serum first into another tube for proper handling and transport.
Limitations
The test is limited by the potential for cross-reactivity with other species and infections, which might lead to false positives. The presence of antibodies does not necessarily indicate an active infection and should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms and other diagnostic procedures. The inability to detect antibodies does not rule out infection, as antibody response might be absent or delayed in some individuals.
