Group A Streptococcus Detection, NAA
Use
Detection of Group A Streptococcus in throat swab specimens from patients with signs and symptoms of pharyngitis
Special Instructions
Ensure proper collection procedure by using a flocked swab and tongue depressor blade to roll the swab over the tonsillar area and posterior oropharynx. Avoid contamination by not collecting swabs immediately after the patient has used antiseptic mouthwash.
Limitations
A negative test result does not exclude the possibility of infection. Test results may be affected by improper specimen collection or if the number of organisms in the sample is below the detection limit of the test. Additionally, the use of a transport device other than an ESwab or improper storage conditions could result in test rejection.
