Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Antibody With Reflex to Quantitative Real-time PCR
Use
Diagnosis of active hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection
Special Instructions
If reflex testing is performed, additional charges/CPT codes may apply. Patients who are on high doses of biotin supplements should stop taking them at least 72 hours before the sample collection to avoid interference with the test results.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of this assay have not been determined for use in cadaveric specimens. The serum should be collected, processed, and stored per the instructions to ensure accurate results. Samples from individuals on biotin supplementation may interfere with assay results and should be managed appropriately.
