Special Instructions
For further assistance in selecting the proper HLA test for patients, contact HLA customer service at 800-533-1037. This test should not be used as a screening procedure for ankylosing spondylitis due to potential false positives and the presence in normal individuals.
Limitations
Testing requires intact lymphocytes in whole blood specimens. Some samples may not be satisfactory even with precautions, necessitating fresh blood collection. The test does not cover rare HLA alleles that may cause false positives, and additional confirmatory or reflex tests may be needed. Not FDA cleared or approved.
