Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) DNA Sequencing Protease−Reverse Transcriptase
Also known as: Cell-associated Viral DNA, HIV-1 Genotype, Resistance Analysis
Use
Detect resistance of HIV-1 to protease and reverse transcriptase inhibitors in cell-associated viral DNA.
Special Instructions
Not provided.
Limitations
This procedure should be used for patients with documented HIV-1 infection and undetectable viral load or low level viremia. Careful interpretation of results is necessary, as the presence of resistance-associated mutations depends on several factors, including sampling time relative to antiretroviral therapy and the overall viral load.
