Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) GenoSure PRIme®
Also known as: GenoSure PRime®, HIV-1 Genotype, POL Genotype, Resistance Testing, Retroviral Genotype
Use
Detect resistance of HIV-1 to protease, reverse transcriptase, and integrase inhibitors.
Special Instructions
Submit a separate frozen specimen for each test requested to avoid delays in turnaround time. The specimen must be collected in designated lavender-top (EDTA) tubes or plasma preparation tubes (PPT™), centrifuged within six hours of collection, and then stored and shipped frozen. Snap-cap or pop-top tubes should be avoided, as they may lead to specimen rejection.
Limitations
This procedure may not be successful when the HIV viral load is below 500 copies/mL plasma. In cases where insufficient virus is present, HIV-1 RNA quantitation will be performed to confirm viral load. The test has high reproducibility and sensitivity, but results may be limited by the inability to determine subtype info confidently if not enough data is available.
