Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) Trofile® (Monogram® Coreceptor Tropism)
Also known as: CCR5, Chemokine Coreceptor Tropism Trofile®, CXCR4
Use
Detect HIV-1 coreceptor tropism; determine eligibility for CCR5 antagonist therapy such as maraviroc (Selzentry®)
Special Instructions
Samples are forwarded to Monogram Biosciences® for testing, reporting, and billing. Collect specimen in two lavender-top (EDTA) tubes or two plasma preparation tubes (PPT™). Centrifuge specimen within six hours of collection, and transfer plasma to one or more polypropylene screw-capped tubes, then freeze. Ship specimens frozen to avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples.
Limitations
This procedure is to be used for patients with documented HIV-1 infection and viral loads of at least 1000 copies/mL. The test is not suitable for patients with Dual/Mixed or CXCR4-tropic HIV-1. Additionally, this test has not been cleared or approved by the FDA and its performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp. The results should not be used as the sole criteria for patient management.
