Use
Monitor exposure to iodine; evaluate for iodine deficiency disorders (IDDs), excessive iodine intake, or iodine in the workplace
Special Instructions
If a 24-hour urine sample is submitted, the test request form must state the 24-hour collection volume. Ensure the urine container is labeled with the patient's full name, room number, the date and time collection started, and the date and time collection finished. No preservative should be used in the sample.
Limitations
The test's performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp and it has not been cleared or approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. While turnaround times are generally 2 to 4 days, additional confirmatory or reflex tests might extend this duration.

Collection Instructions
Instruct the patient to void at 8 AM and discard the specimen. Collect all urine including the final specimen voided at the end of the 24-hour collection period (8 AM the next morning). Screw the lid on securely and transport the specimen promptly to the laboratory. No preservative should be used.

Maintain specimen at room temperature.
