Litholink Serum Panel (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, CO2, Creatinine, Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Uric Acid)
Also known as: Litholink Serum Panel; Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, CO2, Creatinine, Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Uric Acid
Use
This test is used for medical therapy to prevent recurrent stone formation.
Special Instructions
Patient should fast for 12 hours preceding collection of specimen. The test includes key electrolytes and kidney function markers, advocating its role in managing kidney stone risks. Collection must be processed promptly; centrifuge the blood within 45 minutes if a red-top or green-top tube is used.
Limitations
The test provides a snapshot of the serum levels of specified analytes and does not directly indicate the cause of abnormalities. As the test is reliant on serum or plasma, it might not capture transient changes in the analyte concentrations that occur naturally over a short period. Also, certain health supplements or medications could potentially alter the levels, leading to misleading outcomes unless properly accounted for via patient history.
