Nickel, Urine
Also known as: Ni, Urine
Use
Monitor exposure to nickel
Special Instructions
State the 24-hour urine volume on the request form, if applicable. Do not use any preservatives during the urine collection as they may interfere with metal testing, particularly those containing mercuric oxide such as Stabilur. If urinalysis is required in addition to metal testing, a separate urine specimen must be submitted without any additives for accurate metal analysis.
Limitations
The test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means there could be limitations in terms of the regulatory oversight and validation. The results need to be considered in the context of clinical presentation and other diagnostic methods should be considered if needed.
