NMR LipoProfile® Without Lipids (With Graph)
Also known as: Cholesterol, Lipoprotein Analysis (LDL-P, HDL-P, LDL Size), Expanded
Use
NMR LDL-P is a management tool used in appropriate high-risk patients (type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, CVD risk equivalent, statin-treated patients) to adjudicate response to treatment and guide adjustment in therapy. It is used in conjunction with other lipid measurements and clinical evaluation to aid in the management of lipoprotein disorders associated with cardiovascular disease.
Special Instructions
The NMR LipoProfile test examines LDL particle number using NMR technology and should be used as part of a comprehensive assessment of lipid disorders. The LP-IR score is inaccurate if the patient is non-fasting. Samples should be collected in NMR LipoTube, kept refrigerated, and shipped with frozen cool packs.
Limitations
The test's performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp, and it has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. LP-IR score should not be the sole basis for clinical assessment, as it may not account for all cardiovascular disease risk factors.

NMR LipoTube (black-and-yellow-top tube) is the preferred container; plain red-top tube, lavender-top (EDTA-no gel) tube or green-top (heparin-no gel) tube
Collection Instructions
Collect specimen in NMR LipoTube, invert tube eight to 10 times, allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes, and centrifuge within two hours. If centrifugation is delayed, refrigerate and centrifuge within 24 hours. Ship with frozen cool packs.
Patient Preparation
Patient should be fasting for eight hours.
