Ovarian Cancer Monitor
Use
Use of HE4 in combination with CA 125 provides a more accurate predictor of malignancy than either marker alone.
Special Instructions
Patients should be informed about potential interference in test results from biotin (a.k.a. vitamin B7 or vitamin H) supplements. It is recommended to pause biotin intake 72 hours prior to specimen collection. Healthcare providers are advised to inquire about biotin supplementation before proceeding with the test.
Limitations
The results from the Ovarian Cancer Monitor should not be considered absolute evidence of the presence or absence of malignant disease. Values obtained using different assay methods or kits are not interchangeable, and precautions should be taken when interpreting results.
