Use
Initial screening profile intended for the first prenatal visit to evaluate health status in early pregnancy. This profile aligns with current clinical guidelines and recommendations (see references).
Special Instructions
It is recommended to inquire about biotin consumption before sample collection as high doses can interfere with the test. Patients should be advised to cease biotin intake at least 72 hours prior. Each Ct/GC specimen must be clearly labeled with the site/source. Additional charges may apply for reflex tests. A dedicated unopened gel-barrier or red-top tube is necessary for HIV p24 Antigen/Antibody test.
Limitations
This test may be affected by recent biotin consumption leading to potentially inaccurate results. Certain specimen conditions such as contamination, incorrect container usage, or improper labeling can cause rejection of the sample. It's crucial to adhere to specified collection and storage conditions to ensure accurate test outcomes. Results may also depend on the stage of pregnancy and any pre-existing conditions affecting the individual.
