Setomelanomma rostrata
Also known as: Helminthosporium halodes
Use
The Setomelanomma rostrata test measures specific IgE antibodies to Setomelanomma rostrata, which is an allergen. This test is used to aid in the diagnosis of allergic diseases, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, and allergic conjunctivitis. It provides quantitative analysis of IgE levels specific to this allergen, helping in the identification and management of allergen-related conditions.
Special Instructions
This test requires a serum specimen collected in a red-top tube or gel-barrier tube. Collect 0.2 mL of serum. Ensure the specimen is stored at room temperature and is stable for 14 days. It can also be refrigerated for 14 days or frozen for 3 months. The specimen is stable through three freeze/thaw cycles.
Limitations
This test measures specific IgE antibodies using the Thermo Fisher ImmunoCAP method and should not be used as the sole diagnostic method. The presence of IgE antibodies does not always correlate with clinical allergy symptoms, and results should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history. Factors such as cross-reactivity with similar allergens and recent exposure can affect the results. Quantitative results are provided; however, they should be confirmed with clinical correlation.
