Staphylococcus Enterotoxin A
Use
The Staphylococcus Enterotoxin A test is used to measure specific IgE antibodies against the Staphylococcus enterotoxin A allergen. It helps in the diagnosis of allergic reactions associated with exposure to Staphylococcus enterotoxins, which can contribute to inflammatory responses and other immune system-related conditions. Detecting specific IgE levels aids clinicians in evaluating allergic sensitivity and potential allergic diseases in patients.
Special Instructions
Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In cases where additional confirmatory or reflex tests are needed, more time should be allowed. Testing schedules may vary.
Limitations
This test is specifically for measuring IgE antibodies to Staphylococcus Enterotoxin A. Other allergens or toxins, and other classes of immunoglobulins, are not assessed with this method. Factors such as cross-reactivity with other staphylococcal toxins or allergens might influence results. Interpretation should be done in context with clinical findings and other diagnostic tests. Stability of the specimen can affect results, especially if not maintained as advised.
