Yeast
Use
The Yeast test is designed to measure specific IgE antibodies to yeast allergens. This test helps in identifying sensitizations that may cause allergic reactions in patients, providing valuable information for the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases. Patients with yeast allergies may experience a variety of symptoms including respiratory or gastrointestinal reactions. The results of this test are used to assist healthcare providers in formulating a comprehensive care plan for patients with suspected yeast allergies.
Special Instructions
Serum should be collected in a red-top or gel-barrier tube for testing. It is recommended to store the specimen at room temperature until the test is performed. When transporting the specimen, ensure it is kept stable by avoiding exposure to freeze/thaw cycles over three times.
Limitations
This test specifically measures IgE antibodies to yeast allergens, and the results should be interpreted in the context of a clinical assessment. False positives or negatives may occur; hence, results should not be used as the sole basis for an allergy diagnosis. Additional confirmatory tests may be necessary for comprehensive evaluation. The test does not identify the specific yeast species causing the reaction nor does it quantify the clinical severity of the allergy.
