Antidepressant Drug Screen, Ur, Quantitative
Use
This test is used for the quantitative analysis of antidepressants in urine, providing a precise measurement of drug concentration. It helps in the identification and quantification of various antidepressant compounds such as amitriptyline, clomipramine, desipramine, doxepin, fluoxetine, imipramine, maprotiline, nortriptyline, paroxetine, protriptyline, sertraline, and trimipramine. The test is crucial for monitoring therapeutic levels, identifying potential overdose, and assessing patient compliance with medication regimens.
Special Instructions
Specimens should be collected as 3 mL of random urine without preservatives and shipped refrigerated in a plastic container. Ensure proper labeling and avoid contamination to maintain sample integrity.
Limitations
The quantitative analysis may be affected by sample contamination or improper preservation methods. Interfering substances in urine could lead to false positives or negatives, and results should be corroborated with clinical findings. Detection is limited to the specific antidepressants listed and does not account for additional psychoactive substances that are not part of this panel.
