Aspergillus IgG Precipitins Panel
Use
This panel is used to test patients' serum for the presence of precipitating antibodies (IgG) to Aspergillus antigens using the gel diffusion method. These antibodies serve as serological markers for exposure to and immunological sensitization by Aspergillus species. The clinical significance of the presence of these antibodies may vary depending on the patient's history and symptoms.
Special Instructions
The preferred specimen type for this test is serum, collected in a red or SST tube. It is important to spin down the blood sample and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial to ensure test accuracy.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of this test have been established by Eurofins Viracor. However, this test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which may impact its recognition in certain diagnostic scenarios. Additionally, results may be affected by sample conditions such as hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus, which will be grounds for rejection if present in gross excess.
