BCL-6 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The BCL-6 protein is a transcription factor expressed in follicle center B-cells and other cells within the follicle center. It is particularly helpful in the classification of lymphomas, as it aids in distinguishing between different types based on the expression profile.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. If interpretation is required, order PATHC / Pathology Consultation for a full diagnostic evaluation or second opinion. The age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, and stability thresholds vary widely among published literature, being antigen-dependent. Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks.
