Bean Black (Phaseolus spp) IgE
Use
This test measures IgE antibodies to Black Bean (Phaseolus spp) to aid in the diagnosis of allergic conditions. Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of antibody that increases in response to exposure to allergens. Testing for specific IgE antibodies helps identify allergen sensitivities and supports the diagnosis and management of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, and food allergies.
Special Instructions
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube(s); serum gel tube(s) is acceptable. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial. Ensure proper labeling of the specimen for accurate processing and results.
Limitations
This test's sensitivity and specificity in detecting specific IgE to Black Bean (Phaseolus spp) are dependent on factors such as the patient's exposure history and clinical symptoms. Potential cross-reactivity with similar allergens might affect the results, and false positives or negatives can occur due to clinical conditions that influence IgE levels. Clinical correlation and possibly additional testing are necessary for a comprehensive diagnostic conclusion.
