Benzodiazepines Confirmation, Chain of Custody, Random, Urine
Use
This test is useful for detecting drug use involving benzodiazepines such as alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide, clonazepam, diazepam, midazolam, oxazepam, temazepam, clobazam, flunitrazepam, flurazepam, lorazepam, prazepam, triazolam, and zolpidem in urine specimens. It is specifically designed for situations requiring a chain-of-custody process to ensure the integrity of the specimen for potential legal use.
Special Instructions
This test is ordered when chain-of-custody documentation is required. It ensures the specimen remains controlled and unaltered throughout the testing process, which is crucial for legal proceedings. The associated Chain of Custody Kit (T282) must be used during collection and documentation must accompany the specimen.
Limitations
The test is designed to detect benzodiazepines in urine through immunoassay and confirmatory LC-MS/MS analysis. It may not detect extremely low concentrations of some benzodiazepines, and false negatives can occur if the drug concentration is below the established cutoff. Potential adulteration of urine samples can affect the results, hence the importance of the chain-of-custody process.
