BRAF V600E Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for the identification of BRAF V600E-mutated protein, which is important for various clinical disorders such as melanoma, colorectal cancer, papillary thyroid carcinoma, hairy cell leukemia, and more. The BRAF V600E alteration leads to constitutive activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, which plays a crucial role in cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain without pathologist interpretation. Technical component stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical stains will be canceled.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation; it is solely limited to the technical performance of the stain. Possible issues could arise due to conditions such as age of paraffin sections, improper slide handling, and environmental factors affecting glass slide chemistry. Appropriateness for specific antigens may vary with storage and exposure to heat or humidity.
