CD20 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
CD20 is a phosphorylated protein preferentially expressed by mature B lymphocytes, making it one of the most specific B-cell lineage-associated antigens used in the diagnosis of B-cell lymphomas. This test is useful for the classification of lymphomas by highlighting CD20 expression on B-cell surfaces.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and does not include a pathologist interpretation. If pathologist interpretation is required, a PATHC / Pathology Consultation should be ordered. Technical component stains should not be ordered concurrently with PATHC, as they will be canceled.
Limitations
The test does not provide pathologist interpretation, only technical performance. Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks due to varying stability thresholds. Glass slide charges affected by environmental factors might alter staining. Unsuitable glass slides lead to inconsistent staining. Best practices for storing slides include minimizing storage time post-unpackaging and limiting exposure to high humidity and heat.
