CD4 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The CD4 Immunostain is primarily useful for identifying T helper cells, histiocytes, and monocytes. It's also employed to support T cell or histiocytic lineage in hematolymphoid neoplasms, offering diagnostic insights especially for hematopathological evaluations.
Special Instructions
This test includes only technical performance of the stain and excludes pathologist interpretation. If interpretation is required, a separate order for Pathology Consultation (PATHC) must be placed.
Limitations
Stability and immunoreactivity of paraffin sections can decline over time, which may impact results. Unsuitable glass slides can lead to inconsistent staining due to poor slide surface chemistry. The test does not provide interpretative results without additional pathology consultation.
