CD5 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
CD5 is a marker of T-cell lineage and is useful for phenotyping B-cell lymphomas. It is typically expressed on all T cells and can be aberrantly expressed by B-cell lymphomas, such as mantle-cell lymphoma and B-cell small lymphocytic lymphoma. The expression of CD5 is helpful in supporting T-cell lineage in T-cell lymphomas or subclassifying B-cell lymphomas.

Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. Interpretation should be performed by a qualified pathologist in the context of the patient's clinical history. Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, and stability thresholds vary depending on the antigen. Environmental factors can affect the charge of glass slides, potentially altering slide staining and resulting in inconsistent results.
