CD7 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The CD7 immunostain is useful for identifying T cells and natural killer cells. CD7 is a cluster of differentiation marker that is normally present on all T cells and natural killer cells. However, its expression can be aberrantly lost in T-cell lymphomas, aiding in the diagnosis of T-cell lymphoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and does not include pathologist interpretation. Pathologist interpretation requires a separate order of PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled. Best practices include shipping using the provided labels and submitting specimens using the Immunostain Technical Only Envelope (T693).
Limitations
The test does not account for pathologist interpretation, which must be ordered separately. Optimal results are obtained from freshly cut paraffin sections, ideally cut within 6 weeks due to variable stability thresholds. Environmental factors affecting glass slides, such as humidity or heat, may impact staining. Noncharged slides and unsuitable specimens like wet or frozen tissues may lead to inconsistent results.
