CD79a Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
CD79a (cluster of differentiation 79a) stains the cytoplasm and membrane of B lymphocytes and megakaryocytes. It is expressed on B lymphocytes at all stages, useful for diagnosing B-cell lineage in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, malignant lymphomas, and chronic lymphoproliferative disorders.
Special Instructions
This test includes only technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. If ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, the technical component stains will be canceled.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance. Proper interpretation should be conducted by a pathologist in conjunction with clinical history and other diagnostic tests. The age of paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity and slide conditions may alter staining results.

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue block or 2 unstained positively charged slides per test ordered.
Causes for Rejection
Wet/frozen tissue, cytology smears, nonformalin fixed tissue, nonparaffin embedded tissue, noncharged slides.
