Chicken IgG
Use
Chicken IgG tests are utilized in specific clinical situations to help select dietary items for evaluation through elimination and challenge in patients with food-related complaints. These tests aid in identifying immunologic sensitization to specific food allergens. However, the presence of food-specific IgG should not be interpreted as direct evidence of a food allergy, as it only signifies immunologic sensitization to the allergen in question.
Special Instructions
This test should be ordered by physicians who acknowledge its limitations and understand the context of immunologic sensitization vs. actual food allergy.
Limitations
This IgG test does not provide conclusive evidence of food allergies and should not be used alone for diagnosing food-related conditions. It only detects immunologic sensitization, which may not be clinically significant in terms of manifesting allergic reactions. Physicians should use this test's results alongside clinical evaluation and other diagnostic methods.
