Use
The test serves as a marker of the basal lamina of capillaries and basement membranes in all organs. Collagen IV stains the structures within capillaries, glomerular and tubular basement membranes, and mesangial cells within the kidney's glomeruli, providing valuable insights into the structural integrity of these tissues.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and does not provide a pathologist interpretation. Staining ordered alongside a PATHC (Pathology Consultation) will be canceled since PATHC includes IHC/ISH staining at the reviewing pathologist's discretion.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation and is purely technical. The stability of cut paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity, and slide storage conditions such as humidity and heat exposure can alter staining outcomes.

Storage Instructions
Best practices suggest minimizing time slides are stored after being unpackaged and limiting exposure to high humidity and heat.
Causes for Rejection
Wet/frozen tissue, cytology smears, nonformalin fixed tissue, nonparaffin embedded tissue, noncharged slides, ProbeOn slides, Snowcoat slides.
