Controlled Substance Monitoring Enhanced Profile with Reflex, 21 Drug Classes, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry and Immunoassay Screen, Random, Urine
Use
This test is useful for detecting drug use involving stimulants, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opioids, tetrahydrocannabinol, and alcohol. It provides comprehensive monitoring essential for clinical management and assessment in patients undergoing treatment for substance use disorders or in need of substance use monitoring. This test significantly aids in identifying potential drug abuse and ensuring compliance with prescribed medications.
Special Instructions
It is important to note that this test should not be used for employment-related drug testing purposes. The testing begins with an adulterant survey, and if the sample is found to be adulterated, further testing is cancelled. If the specimen is normal or only diluted, subsequent testing continues. If the initial immunoassay screen is positive, additional separate ordered confirmation testing can be performed.
Limitations
This test does not cover all possible drugs of abuse or their metabolites. It is specifically structured to detect commonly abused substances within the specified 21 drug classes. Immunoassay screening might not detect all potential substance use due to cross-reactivity limitations, and positive screens require confirmatory testing with more specific methods, such as mass spectrometry, for accurate identification. Quantitative confirmation assessment can only be conducted for specified drugs, incurring additional charges and requiring separate orders.
