Cyclin D1 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Cyclin D1 is a protein that regulates entry of the cell into the cell cycle, specifically driving the transition between the G0 and G1 phases. This test is useful for the classification of low-grade B-cell lymphomas, as the vast majority of mantle cell lymphomas overexpress cyclin D1 due to a translocation involving the cyclin D1 gene and IgH, t(11;14).
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled. Shipping instructions include attaching the green 'Attention Pathology' address label (T498) and the pink Immunostain Technical Only label to the transport container.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. The charge of glass slides can be affected by environmental factors and may alter staining. Unsuitable glass slides can cause inconsistent staining. Best practices for storage of positively charged slides include minimizing the time stored after being unpackaged and limiting exposure to humidity and heat. The age of cut paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity, with stability thresholds varying among antigens.
