Dock Yellow (Rumex crispus) IgE
Use
The Dock Yellow (Rumex crispus) IgE test is used to measure specific IgE antibodies to Rumex crispus, which is known to cause allergic reactions. The test aids in the diagnosis of allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma triggered by exposure to this weed. Assessment of IgE levels can help guide management and treatment plans for patients with suspected allergies.
Special Instructions
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 0.5 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial. Ensure that the specimen is kept refrigerated if not tested immediately.
Limitations
The Dock Yellow (Rumex crispus) IgE test may not detect all allergens related to Rumex crispus due to antigen variability. Cross-reactivity with other allergens might occur, causing false positives. Hypersensitivity reactions not mediated by IgE antibodies will not be detected by this test.
