Dog Fennel (Anthemis cotula) IgE
Use
The Dog Fennel (Anthemis cotula) IgE test is used to detect IgE antibodies specific to the dog fennel allergen. It is an important test for individuals suspected to have allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to dog fennel. By measuring the IgE levels, healthcare professionals can evaluate the patient's allergic status and guide clinical management regarding allergen avoidance and treatment options. This test can aid in defining the patient's allergy profile, especially in cases where allergen-specific immunotherapy or lifestyle adjustments are considered.
Special Instructions
Blood should be drawn in a plain red-top tube, though a serum gel tube is also acceptable. After drawing, the blood should be spun down, and 0.5 mL of serum should be sent refrigerated in a plastic vial. The container used for this test can either be a red tube or an SST (Serum Separator Tube).
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by Eurofins Viracor. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which means it may be limited to use under specific regulatory conditions and might not be applicable for all patient scenarios. Results should not be the sole basis for any therapeutic decision and should be correlated with clinical presentation and other diagnostic tests. Potential interferences such as gross hemolysis and lipemia can lead to rejection of the sample.
