Epithelia Panel # 1, Serum
Use
The Epithelia Panel #1 is essential for diagnosing allergies to common domestic animals such as cat, cow, dog, or horse. It helps identify allergens responsible for allergic responses and symptoms, and to confirm sensitization before starting immunotherapy. This panel is also valuable for investigating specific allergic reactions to insect venom, drugs, or chemicals.
Special Instructions
This test uses a pooled multi-allergen ImmunoCAP reagent, meaning that it reports a single qualitative class result and concentration. Positive results require follow-up tests to delineate individual allergen responses.
Limitations
Testing for IgE antibodies is not useful for patients previously treated with immunotherapy for determining residual clinical sensitivity or for those where clinical management doesn't depend on identifying allergen specificity. False-positive results might occur in patients with high serum IgE levels due to nonspecific binding.
