Factor X Inhibitor Profile, Professional Interpretation
Use
This test is useful for the interpretation of the detection and quantitation of inhibitors to coagulation factor X. Coagulation factor inhibitors can arise in patients who are congenitally deficient in a specific factor as a response to factor replacement therapy, or they can occur spontaneously without a known cause. They might also develop in response to a variety of medical conditions, including the postpartum state, immunologic disorders, certain antibiotic therapies, some malignancies, and in older adults. Inhibitors of factor VIII coagulant activity are the most common specific factor inhibitors.
Special Instructions
The test is only orderable as a reflex and not directly. An interpretive report is provided, compiled by a coagulation expert who reviews the laboratory data.
Limitations
No significant cautionary statements were found. Additionally, no specific limitations regarding improper specimen collection, inappropriate test selection, or substances causing interference were noted in the provided information.
