Food Panel IgG4 (532)
Use
The Food Panel IgG4 test is utilized in specific clinical situations to identify foods that might be evaluated through diet elimination and challenge in patients with food-related complaints. The test provides data on the presence of food-specific IgG4 antibodies, which have been investigated in the context of oral food immunotherapy treatments. However, it is important to note that reference ranges for food-specific IgG4 have not been established, and the clinical utility of these tests remains unclear.
Special Instructions
The test is performed from Monday through Friday within the Eurofins Viracor laboratory. Serum specimens are required for testing, and blood should be drawn in a plain red-top tube or serum gel tube. A minimum serum volume of 0.5 mL is necessary, but 1 mL is preferred. Specimens need to be spun down and sent in a plastic vial.
Limitations
Reference values for food-specific IgG4 have not been established, limiting the interpretation of results. The clinical utility of these tests has not been clearly defined. Cutoffs for IgG4 presence are not standardized, and results should be considered as part of a broader clinical assessment rather than definitive indicators.
