Fruit Panel IgG
Use
The Fruit Panel IgG test is used to detect immunoglobulin G antibodies specific to various fruit allergens. This testing can be useful in special clinical situations to help identify fruits that may be associated with food-related complaints, including allergic reactions. However, the presence of food-specific IgG antibodies alone cannot be taken as definitive evidence of a food allergy. It rather indicates immunologic sensitization to the tested fruit allergens. Clinical judgment and further evaluation are necessary to ascertain the clinical relevance of the detected antibodies.
Special Instructions
This test is intended for use by physicians who are familiar with the limitations and appropriate applications of food-specific IgG testing. It is not recommended for self-diagnosis or self-treatment without professional guidance. Specimen collection should follow standard phlebotomy protocols, and the sample must be handled with care to ensure test accuracy.
Limitations
Reference ranges for food-specific IgG tests have not been established, and the clinical utility of these tests remains undetermined. Results should not be used as standalone indicators of food allergies but as part of a broader diagnostic approach including patient history and other diagnostic tools. False positives or non-specific binding may occur, influencing the results.
