GRB2-Associated Binding Protein 1 (GAB1) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The GAB1 test is used for the identification and differentiation of medulloblastomas. Medulloblastomas are divided into molecular subgroups: SHH (sonic hedgehog), WNT (wingless-type murine mammary tumor), or non-SHH/WNT. GAB1 serves as an adapter protein in cell signaling pathways involved in growth, transformation, and apoptosis and can be part of a panel for immunohistochemical analysis to classify medulloblastomas into appropriate subgroups.
Special Instructions
This test only includes the technical performance of the stain without pathologist interpretation. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled. Ensure attachment of the green 'Attention Pathology' label and the pink Immunostain Technical Only label included in the kit to the transport container.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain is covered. Positive and negative controls will be verified but interpretation should be done in the context of the patient's clinical history or other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist. Additionally, environmental factors and the age of the paraffin section may affect immunoreactivity outcomes. Best practices include cutting paraffin sections within six weeks and properly storing charged slides to avoid inconsistent staining results.
