Use
Preferred screening test for detection of arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead due to occupational exposure using random urine specimens.
Special Instructions
If arsenic concentration is greater than or equal to 10 mcg/L, then speciation (Arsenic Speciation, Random, U - SPAS) will be performed at an additional charge.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Mayo Clinic in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Collection Instructions
Collect a random urine specimen; for the 48‑hour period prior to collection, patient should not eat seafood; if gadolinium‑ or iodine‑containing contrast media administered, wait 96 hours.
Patient Preparation
Do not eat seafood for 48 hours prior to collection; avoid gadolinium or iodine contrast agents for 96 hours prior to collection.
Causes for Rejection
All specimens will be evaluated at Mayo Clinic Laboratories for test suitability.
