IgG4 Food Panel VIII
Use
The presence of food-specific IgG4 has been studied in response to various oral food immunotherapy treatments but cutoffs have not been established. These tests can be used in special clinical situations to select foods for evaluation by diet elimination and challenge in patients who have food-related complaints, and to evaluate food allergic patients prior to food challenges. Reference ranges have not been established for food-specific IgG4 tests, and the clinical utility of these tests has not been clearly established.
Special Instructions
It is important to send 1 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial for optimal specimen testing. This test should be considered within the context of the clinical situation and preferably not in isolation.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of this test have not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This test is not suitable for diagnosing food allergies or guiding dietary decisions without proper clinical evaluation. Immunotherapy response and the correlation between IgG4 levels and food allergies lack definitive cutoffs.
