Insulinoma-Associated Protein 1 (INSM1), Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Insulinoma associated protein 1 (INSM1) is expressed in tissues with neuroendocrine differentiation. INSM1 is a sensitive and specific marker for neuroendocrine tumors, which makes this test useful for the identification of such tumors. This technical component only test is specifically helpful for distinguishing neuroendocrine tumors by identifying the presence of INSM1 in tumor tissues.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as any immunohistochemistry (IHC) performed as part of PATHC will be under the reviewing pathologist's discretion at an additional charge. Proper labeling with the green "Attention Pathology" and pink Technical Only labels is required for shipping.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only the technical performance of the stain. The age of a paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, and best practice suggests cutting paraffin sections within 6 weeks. Glass slide surfaces may affect staining quality due to environmental factors, requiring careful sending of suitable slides.
